Naupoto Stresses Loyalty
The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto, reminded senior officers and other ranks that the November 2000, incident must never happen again.
He was speaking at a memorial parade at the headquarters of the RFMF Third Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment (3FIR) Memorial Cenotaph at Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB), Nabua, yesterday.
“We are here to honour our comrades for the life they lost and the families they left behind in their stand for the institution,” he said. “We will always come here and remember them every year.”
He said those involved in the mutiny were influenced by others and they made the wrong decision to attack the institution.
But, these loyal soldiers he said stood by their oath of allegiance to the RFMF and protected the institution.
He reminded all those at the parade that what had happened in November 2000 must never happen again. Meanwhile, 27-year-old Ro Liku Vosailagi said she was nine years old when her father Osea Rokosirinavosa was shot dead while working on his computer.
“I will always miss my father,” she said.
Liku Veilewai, wife of the late Jone Temo Veilewai, said she missed her loving husband. Mrs Veilewai works at Fletcher Construction in Lami.
Salanieta Rawaileba, wife of Simione Rawaileba, also misses her late husband.
She is employed by the RFMF. They all thanked Government for the three-bedroom houses given to them. These houses were constructed by the RFMF Engineers.
