All western towns, including Lautoka City now have wifi hotspots and the chance to watch television through Walesi.

This followed the launching of both products at Tavua and Rakiraki yesterday by the Director of Information, Izek Lal.

Hundreds of school children and adults turned up to witness the events with many of them seen instantly hooking up with the wifi hotpot app. Jayant Kumar, of Tavua said he was grateful to the Government for all that they continue to do for the people of Fiji.

“I am happy with all developments being done and with the launching if these things the citizens are being brought up to date with things outside Fiji.”

Bharti Rattan, a cashier of Rakiraki said the hotspots would encourage the children to broaden their knowledge without having to look for internet data.

“This Government is too good and our children are lucky starting from no bus fares and free schooling to now having a chance to use the internet for one hour free of charge.”

Mr Lal said Walesi was everywhere in Fiji and was available on all smart phones.

“We now have 100,000 downloads of the Walesi app,” Mr Lal told the crowd in Tavua and Rakiraki.

Now the Tavua people can use the free wifi anywhere within the market and bus stand area.

In Rakiraki, the hotspot virtually covers most of the town area because of its layout being close together but mainly near the bus stand and market areas.

The launching at these two western towns virtually brings the whole of the urban centres in Fiji to be hooked up with both products.

Mr Lal said Walesi was everywhere in Fiji and was available on all smart phones.
