DiwaIi is an opportune time for Fijians to forgive those who have wronged them and move on in life.

This was the message by Seaqaqa Central College vice principal Nilesh Dutt while celebrating Diwali with his wife Sanjeeta Mala and three children at Natua in Seaqaqa yesterday.

Originally from Rakiraki, the 40-year-old misses his family having spent the past three years in Vanua Levu teaching in Bua, Dreketi and Seaqaqa. “Life is too short and what happens tomorrow we do not know,” Mr Dutt said.

“My wife, who is also a teacher at the same school, took the initiative to prepare everything for Diwali so that we could celebrate as a family. “Sometimes we wish we have all family members under one roof to celebrate Diwali because it’s all about coming together to share joy.

“In our religion we believe that new year begins from today and hence it is essential that we have a clear heart, mind and soul.

“I understand sometimes it can be difficult to move on in life but God has given us the strength to forgive and forget and live a new life of joy.

“Therefore, I would like to urge those who did wrong against their loved ones to make a phone call or meet in person and restore that relationship once lost.”

The Dutts’ live in one of the school quarters.
