Kindy students celebrate graduation in style

- NACANIELI TUILEVUKA

Christian Days Kindergarten in Labasa celebrated their graduation in style, singing songs, reading books and reciting their vowels to show their parents and guardians what they learned this year.

The tiny tots bid farewell to their pre-school year and are now looking forward to starting their primary education next year. Kindergarten teacher Keresi Rakabikabi commended the parents and teachers for playing their part. She likened students to seeds and parents or teachers to cultivators working hand-in-hand.

“This event will be a memorable one because next year they will be in Year One. Education for early childhood is for life and very important in a child’s career,” Ms Rakabikabi said. “Students need to come to school every day so they can do better come Year One.

“The child you send to school must be well looked after at home. Values you teach at home are what children will take to school.

“Children will reflect the kind of life and teaching you portray. “You and spouses should have equal responsibilities in looking after your child. “Be careful of technology. You should control the use of technology for your children. Don’t let it distract you when your children want to talk to you.” Ms Rakabikabi thanked the parents for their part in educating grassroots Fijians.

“Life is not just about learning to read and write. This is a lifelong journey, which will help all of us. We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.”
