Rishikul parent says learning process important for children

- SHEENAM CHANDRA Edited by Percy Kean

Early childhood education is an important learning stage in a child’s life because it helps in their cognitive development.

This was highlighted by Sanjeshni Gokul, one of the parents who attended the Rishikul Pre-School Graduation at Valelevu yesterday. “I did not receive any form of childhood education during my time,” Ms Gokul said.

“Therefore, I was unprepared for the school curriculum and had to work hard during my early school days. “However, I am so proud of my son today because he has received the most important education which I did not receive in my early days.” Her son, Savya Gokul, 5, also had some learning difficulties when he first started kindergarten.

“Savya had some learning and reading difficulties when he first started preschool. However, as time went by he learned to his content and was able to improve on his performance.” Savya is also happy and exhilarated to start his primary school education in Rishikul Primary School. “I am so proud of myself and I have my mother and grandmother with me to celebrate. I have my friends here too and we are excited to start Year 1,” Savya said.

“I also want to be a firefighter when I grow up because I like playing with fire trucks and also want to help people.”

More than a 180 students graduated this year from Rishikul Pre-School.
