Exciting Clubs Comp: Yusuf
GRACE NARAYAN SUVA
Mohammed Yusuf is looking forward to exciting games this weekend in the finals of the 2018 Vodafone National Club Championships.
The Fiji Football chief executive officer is anticipating top 90-minute football from the eight clubs at Fiji FA Academy grounds in Suva.
“It is going to be an exciting weekend for football fans in the southern division as they will witness a good 90-minute of football matches,” Yusuf said.
“There is a equal distribution of district reps in all the teams. I am glad the 90-minute football has started and it’s here to stay. “However, hopefully next year we are looking at having this tournament organized so teams can have time to prepare.
“We will also look at moving forward the 2019 pre-season transfer window from September to August which will allow movement players to take place.
“The Fiji FA has extended partnership with Vodafone Fiji for the next 5 years and our aim is to invest more money into this competition so teams from Vanua Levu can come over and compete. And we are grateful to Vodafone for this initiative.”
Vodafone sponsorship manager Adriu Vakarau was grateful for the opportunity to be part of the competition.
“Vodafone Fiji Limited is glad to be part of the NCC and support the club level competition,” Vakarau said
“And we are also thankful that Fiji FA has made plans to make some adjustments.
“We all know that the club level is a pathway for players to represent their various districts and further qualifying to play for Fiji
“And also for the first time we will be live streaming the games, put up some screens and create some lively atmosphere at the grounds.
“We also would like to invite all
the fans to please come out in numbers and support the team.”
