Ama Billings, the former principal of Adi Cakobau School, thanked parents of Saint Mary’s Kindergarten in Labasa for the sacrifices they made for their children.

While speaking as chief guest during the pre-school’s graduation at the Labasa Civic Centre yesterday, Ms Billings said parents and teachers put in a lot of time and energy in preparing children for their future. “I was fortunate to teach secondary school students for the past 34 years and even they can be a handful and very stressful at times, but with the little ones, you need a lot more patience and need to show love at all times,” Ms Billings said.

“And for parents, thank you for supporting your children. Bringing them safely to school each day, some parents waiting all morning and taking them safely back home after each session. She acknowledged the Anglican Church for opening the kindergarten in 2017.

“The Anglican Church saw the need to provide such a facility to cater for our growing population and we can be grateful to the church for this initiative,” she said.

“It is our collective responsibility to guide and mould the leaders of tomorrow for it is on them that the future will have to depend on.” She congratulated the students and urged them to continue learning new things every day.
