The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s captain Litia Naiqato is ready to lead her side to the Women Sevens Series in Dubai on November 29-30.

This will be the first time for the Dakuinuku, Sawakasa, Tailevu native to captain the national side in the Women Sevens Series and is excited to take up the challenge.

“It’s a big achievement for me, I haven’t captained the national team before but it’s going to be a challenge for me. I know I have to step up and lead this young side.

“There are lot of young girls in the team but we are getting together well and we have been working on improving on our skills after the Oceania Sevens Championship,” Naiqato said.

Dubai would be the third international tournament for the new look Fijiana side guided by Ro Alifereti Doviverata. “Most of these girls are new to the environment especially playing international tournament but I’m grateful that they are at the level that is expected.

“They are excited to travel to Dubai, some of the places that most of these new girls always dream of and will definitely have a story to tell when they return,” she said. Nicknamed ‘Arnold’ is fast becoming synonymous with Fijiana Rugby 7s team, with her menacing hits and her offloads. She has become a stalwart of Fijiana and believes on a positive performance from the team.

“These girls are strong and I’m expecting good games and positive performance from them.”
