Dux Exceeds Results Thanks to Parents’ Guidance

At the beginning of the year, Shahira Samiha Ali had set one target – to score 490/500 in Fiji Eighth Year Examinatio­n results.

But she exceeded that and was grateful for the support she received from her parents and teachers. On Wednesday, the 13-year-old was announced the dux of Nasinu Muslim Primary School.

“I dedicate my success to God, my parents and also my teacher because they played a very important role in my life and in getting this prestigiou­s prize today,” she said.

“I am very thankful for the support my parents have given me in achieving my goal today.”

She thanked her parents’ support and guidance in the year.

Her mother, Shabnum Ali said: “If she sets her mind to do something then she does it but getting her there requires hard work.

“She is a very determined girl and her target was 490 but she scored more than her target. She scored 491.”

Ms Ali said that they always spend quality time with her and help her at home with her homework and study.

Her father, Shamsher Ali said that he is very proud of his daughter. “She has produced the marks and her hard work has really paid off,” he said.

Shahira scored the following marks in the external examinatio­ns: Mathematic­s- 100 English- 93

Basic Science- 98

Social Science- 100

Urdu- 100

Healthy Living- 98
