Sister Sereana Naqarase’s passion of sharing her life with children made her pursue a career in primary school teaching.

Ms Naqarase, 34, originally from Nacamaki Village in Koro Island graduated from Corpus Christi Teachers College from Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva yesterday. She is part of a congregation known as The Sisters of Our Lady of Nazareth where they teach in various schools, including Government schools.

“This is based on voluntary work and the three years has been challenging,” said Ms Naqarase. “There have been a lot of ups and downs and being a religious sister and student at the same time can be very hard because I have to be a good role model.

“That is the expectation from them so that it quite a challenge.” She said it was always a joy to share her life with her students.

It includes her duties as both as a teacher and a religious sister. “I had dreamt that one day I would become a teacher. It’s great to be a teacher at this time and to witness my faith and beliefs to my school,” said Ms Naqarase.

“I have a passion to share my life with others, especially with little children so that is one of the reasons that I find joy to share my life with others-especially the Holy souls, little children.”

“My message to others is to keep on pursuing your dreams in whatever you want to do in the future.”
