Pathfinders Prepare For Annual Camporee
More than 4000 pathfinders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Fiji will march into camp on December 4.
The theme of the camp is “Courage to Conquer”.
This annual event is the biggest and busiest event in the pathfinder calendar. A member of the steering committee for the pathfinders’ camporee, Apisalome Vuadreu, said the camp was to prepare the youngsters to become good citizens of Fiji. “Youths from the age of 10 to 15 years throughout Fiji will be part of the camp. The camp will start from December 4 to December 8,” Mr Vuadreu said.
“This year it will be held at Vatula settlement, Burelevu, Ra. The purpose of the camp is to develop skills and most importantly is to build up their spiritual life and prepare them to be better citizens of Fiji. “The camp is normally held during the school break because it involves children.
“Some of the difficulties that we face are many times children are disobedient and this is one area that we want to tackle. “We want to build their character, a character of Christ.”
He said the objective was the combination of biblical knowledge, recreational and social activities.
“These days children are more involved in social media, which distracts them, and we want to get them away and reconstruct their mind,” Mr Vuadreu said “Because of the impact the church has done in evangelising the number has increased. The last time we had the camp it was around 2000 and now we will have more than 4000 participants.”
