YES Product Wins Young Entrepreneurship Award
Intro Green Distributors, a product of Government’s Young Entrepreneurship Scheme was recognised at the 2018 Prime Minister’s International Business Awards at the Sofitel Resort and Spa on Saturday night. Twenty-seven-year-old Rinesh Sharma, company owner, received the Ministry of Youth and Sports Young Entrepreneurship Award at the Sofitel Resort and Spa on Saturday.
The award is presented to a company that best exemplifies the qualities of effective leadership, innovative applied know how, and demonstrates financial viability and sound potential for growth. Mr Sharma said: “I feel honoured. This is a confidence booster for me to get such recognition from the Prime Minister and actually the Government has done great in terms of supporting youths.” He said since he came back from India, he wanted to do something for the people.
“So what I did I combined engineering and agriculture and ... and it is about having consistent high quality food supply to the people. “My company is a sole trader company where I am the all-rounder guy.”
Mr Sharma advanced his Intro Green Distributors an hydroponic smart farming in India in Automated Hydroponics and Aeroponics system – a soilless farming method.
The system he introduced grows vegetables and fruits in a controlled environment all year around and reduced labour by 90 per cent.
The company’s vision is to operate the farm entirely on solar energy with recycled water. There’s no harmful emissions released and the farm is monitored through a smartphone with checks on temperature, moisture levels at any given time.
Mr Sharma’s vision is to have multiple hydroponic smart farms not only in Fiji but the entire Pacific region.
