Wainimakutu, Namosi, villager Kinisimere Ledua has set her sights on being the Dux of John Wesley Primary School at Raiwaqa, Suva, next year.

The 13-year-old has also set her sights on her career path, saying she has to work very hard for a secure future to be able to pay her parents back for investing in her education. This is after she scooped the Year 7 Dux prize during the school’s prizegiving ceremony last Wednesday.

“My parents are not well off and I plan to make them happy by achieving

my goals at school,” Kinisimere said.

“My father is a security guard and my mother is a domestic worker and they want me to become the best.

“I plan to become an aircraft engineer and follow my eldest brother’s footsteps. My parents have done their part and I plan to do mine.

“Life is not easy for us, but I am thankful that through all the difficulties we faced my parents were always there and never gave up on us.”

She thanked her parents, teachers and friends for always mentoring her.

“Through my parents’ motivation I have reached this far. I want to make my parents proud by being named the Dux next year,” Kinisimere said.

“It will not be easy because there will be a lot of competition, but I am willing to study hard and achieve my goal.

“One thing my parents have taught me is to never give up no matter what because behind every hardship is success.

“I dedicate my achievement to my family and friends.”
