FIJI Water Rewards Long-service Employees

- May’s role EARTH’S FINEST WATER®

Late last month, FIJI Water hosted a ceremony in honor of a group of its decade-long service staff, recognising their ongoing commitment and loyalty to what is now a global premium brand in over 80 countries.

One of the celebrated long-service staff members was 40-year-old May Tokito.

Raised in Nadera, she headed west in search of work; and like many from her generation, she prioritized work, family and then tertiary studies later.

The former Holy Trinity Primary, Adi Cakobau School and Suva Grammar student admits: “I didn’t go into tertiary straight out of school but did the complete opposite.

“I got a job, started a family, got married then went back to tertiary after my second child was born.”

Starting out in the airline industry, she has worked in various jobs from software development to banking before joining FIJI Water as a Logistics co-ordinator in 2008.

Over the past 10 years, her role in the company has evolved and today she plays a vital role as shift co-ordinator in the Production Department at FIJI Water’s Yaqara Plant. In 2016, May was recognised at the company’s President’s Award ceremony for being a role model and demonstrating one of the company’s core beliefs - Departmental Collaboration.

Having also worked as a Production Planner and Operations Captain, May is proud to be part of a hardworking team that produces what is now the number-one premium imported bottled water brand in the United States, and one of Fiji’s largest exports.

“I do my best to try and be a leader that can inspire someone to be a better version of themselves,” she says.

May’s words of advice to others, “Learn as much as you can when you can.

“Hard work and perseverance always pay off. “Sometimes the rewards may be slow but it will come, be content and grateful always.” FIJI Water was founded in 1996 out of the desire to share the earth’s finest water with the world.

Today, it is available in leading hotels, fine restaurants, retail locations, as well as by direct delivery. As a leading export of the Fiji Islands, FIJI Water is now the number one imported bottled water in the United States and is enjoyed in over 60 countries across the globe. FIJI Water is committed to doing business responsibly and seeking opportunities to make a difference. That means investing in its communities and the environment and focusing its efforts around meaningful issues with like-minded partners to enable positive change.
