Samuela Seci finds love again in Angeline Bradburgh
Man finds love again in physically disabled woman, weds her and accepts her son.
When Samuela Seci set out to find income for his two sons in Waidamudamu, Labasa, he never thought he would fall in love with a woman who was strong-willed.
For Angeline Bradburgh, her dream to have a family came true when she tied the knot and said “I do” to Mr Seci on Thursday. Ms Bradburgh, 29, has a medical condition known as phocomelia
disease, a rare birth defect that causes severe birth defects, especially of the upper limbs. The bones of the arms, and in some cases other appendages, may be extremely shortened and even absent. (source: wikipedia)
She has been living with her son, David Sagar, for 10 years after her husband’s sudden death.
It was not until Mr Seci, 35, of Cikobia, Macuata came two years ago with his two children under the age of ten to work as a sugarcane labourer in Waidamudamu, that they came to know each other. Recalling how he came to meet the love of his life, Mr Seci said he completed his Year 13 from Rishikul Sanatan College but could not opt for tertiary education because his father didn’t have enough money. “I worked at several private firms, then my wife eloped with another men, I left everything and returned to the island,” Mr Seci said. “I always prayed to God to bless me with a noble and loyal wife who would look after my two sons. “It was in 2016, when I came to cut cane, that I would often see Angeline carry out her house chores and look after her 10-year-old son. “She worked like any other normal person would do, despite her physical condition,” he said. “One day I asked her if she could look after my two kids and she said ‘yes’ and I later proposed to her.” He said, Ms Bradburgh, being spiritually strong, asked him to wait as she needed to get permission from her senior pastor, DongIn Jang of Holy Hand Church. “After numerous discussions the pastor led our marriage in church and finally I married the woman I love and who is not at all ashamed of her identity,” he added. Ms Bradburgh, who was in tears said: “My son now has a father and I have someone who will love and protect me in this world.”
