Corrections officers rewarded
Seventeen officers of the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) yesterday were recognised for their long service and contribution to United Nation Missions at the Naboro Corrections Complex. From the 17 officers, 10 were awarded medals for their long service and good conduct.
The remaining seven officers were given the General Service Medals after returning from yet another successful tour of duty from the Middle East. Commissioner of Corrections Commander Francis Kean congratulated them and acknowledged their efforts and service to Fiji and the FCS.
“I congratulate all of you who received medals today, especially to those who are being recognised for your long service to the organisation,’’ he said.
“Your medals today is in recognition of your hard work, sweat, tears and sacrifices over many years of service.
“I also congratulate those who have returned from their tour of duty. Thank you for holding the Fiji flag high and being good ambassadors for FCS and serving your country honestly, with integrity with your counterparts up at the RFMF.” Commander Kean advised the recipients to look after their medals.
“This is something you will show your family and your children in years to come as a testament to the diligent work you have delivered to Fiji and the Fiji Corrections Service.”
The special ceremony was part of the FCS Christmas celebration, which began with the medal parade, followed by a church service.
This culminated with the commissioner hosting his men and women to a special Christmas lunch at Naboro.
