Sapkal, Friendship Forum Share Messages Of Values With Children CHRISTMAS
Christmas teaches us to have respect and forgiveness for others says Vishvas Sapkal. The Indian High Commissioner along with members of the IndiaFiji Friendship Forum celebrated Christmas at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Friday with children from Dilkusha Home and Christopher’s Home.
“These are values, which are essential to spread humanity and are very important,” Mr Sapkal said.
“We think Christmas should not be only celebrated once a year, but it should be celebrated every day. “Christmas tells us to spread peace, harmony, dignity, happiness, unity and all the other human values that will make the world a better place.”
Mr Sapkal said celebrating Christmas in Fiji was an important occasion because of its unity and diversity.
“We celebrate Eid, Diwali, Christmas, Easter, Holi and many other religious events in Fiji which indicates togetherness between all the cultures,” the Indian High Commissioner said.
“There is great enthusiasm in celebrating festivals here. All these festivals promote the spreading of good tidings and happiness.” He said this was why they included the participation of children from Dilkusha Home as well as children Saint Christopher’s Home.
Mr Sapkal said that he didn’t see any difference with the festivals celebrated here and India because both countries celebrated these events with great enthusiasm.
“All come together and celebrate. They rush into markets and shops to get gifts to share,” he said. “Christmas is about sharing what you have with others who are deprived of things and do not have the resources.”
