Opposition and SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka has has said in his 2019 New Year message: “My vision for Fiji in 2019 and beyond is based on my conviction and my faith, that we must build a united and progressive nation where we can live in peace and in harmony with each other.

“It is only by working together that we will realise our collective dream to build Fiji into a progressive, dynamic and united country, as we move forward.”

Call for tolerance and compassion for all

Mr Rabuka said: “As the sun sets on 2018, I call for respect for all our multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-religious communities.

“I call for an end to the animosity among our major communities. “SODELPA will continue to embrace, recognise and reaffirm individual and group freedoms and dignity.

“I call on all citizens to care for your families, it is where you are nurtured, and learn the values essential for a strong people and a united nation.

“Let us care for and respect children, women, the elderly, the marginalised and vulnerable communities.

“Let us all come together for the good of all the people of Fiji, let us continue to pray for each other and to pray for our Nation.

“As a Christian, believing in my Saviour Jesus Christ, my prayer for all the people of Fiji for the coming year 2019 and beyond, is for:

Faith which makes things possible;

Hope which makes things work; Love for one another which makes things beautiful.

“May all three gifts be bestowed on the people of Fiji.

May God bless you all. May God bless Fiji.”
