Hooray and vinaka Fiji Sun (FS 01/19) for publishing our different political party leaders’ New Year’s commitment to the nation.

Our FijiFirst Government PM Voreqe Bainimarama has again made the commitment to work for all Fijians irrespective of who they voted for and will work with them in moving the country forward. SODELPA’s leader Sitiveni Rabuka has called for tolerance, compassion, faith, love and hope.

In addition he has called for respect for all our multi-racial, multi-cultural and multireligious communities and rightfully so, he has also called for an end to animosity amongst our major Fijian communities. These values must start from Mr Rabuka in walking his talk by virtue of his Christian beliefs.

Our MPs are seen in Parliament by the hundreds of thousands of Fijian viewers both here at home and abroad. There are many irresponsible childish acts or drama created by the SODELPA MPs which are utterly disrespectful.

I do hope Mr Rabuka can control his Opposition team in this New Year because hate and fear are created in our parliament through their behaviour and it is the right place to start practising what he has committed to.

Let’s all collectively in our own little genuine way make a difference for 2019.
