Hosts Tabadamu 7s team are confident of winning their tournament at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

The Silverwaters sponsored-event starts today. Speaking after the managers briefing at Holiday Inn, Suva yesterday, Tabadamu manager/coach Leo Naikasau said preparations for their three teams are on track as they’re determined to win the cup. “Preparations have been the same since we have been training throughout the season,” he said.

“As hosts we’ve fielded three teams to compete. “They are Tabadamu Red, Tabadamu Blue and the Roko Sports Tabadamu.

“Our aim is to lift the cup at the end of the second day of the tournament and players are well briefed on what’s expected of them.

“Most of the players in the team are from Namosi and this club over the years has produced national reps like captain, Setefano Cakau, Nasoni Roko, Peni Gaunimeke, Alipate Ratini, Apenisa Cakaubalavu, Teri Tamani, Suliano Vulivuli and Leo Naikasau Jnr.”

Tournament co-ordinator Malakai Yamaivava is looking forward to the two- day tournament. “The tournament preparation is going on well. And we thank everyone most importantly the sponsors for their contribution as we look forward to a successful tournament.

“The main purpose of hosting this tournament is to generate revenue to cater for the Tabadamu clubs’ expenses on their participating in upcoming international and local tournaments.”
