Aslon To Export Line Worldwide
Aslon the subsidiary of Donghae Industrial (Fiji) PTE Limited plans to be the first Fijian fishing line manufacturing company to export its product around the world.
About the company
The company officially opened on June 2018 with the total investment of over $4.6 million. According to Donghae Industrial (Fiji) PTE Limited chairman, Kwon Son, they are now one of the main suppliers of fishing lines to Fiji Fish and other smaller businesses locally. Their lines range from Aslon Mono branch main line to the long, to their highly demanded product, Monofilamen with sizes ranging from 0.28mm and more.
Fiji market
Mr Son said Fiji wharves received over 200-300 fishing boats yearly, so with the high demand in the fishing industry, they plan to expand the market, both domestically and internationally.
“Fiji is now among the top five nations that export quality fishing lines around the world with Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Germany,” he said.
“When we came into the Fiji market our first target was long line boats.
“Since we started, our relationship with fishing companies our business has grown and we are one of the main suppliers to Fiji Fish.”
Mr Son added being in Fiji had been an advantage to local companies who now had access to cheap and quality fishing materials. “Previously local fishing company have always imported fishing lines and gears from overseas countries, with the high duty can be very costly,” Mr Son said. “Operating in Fiji has made it more accessible, timely and affordable to local companies.”
In the pipeline
Mr Son said Aslon would be expanding their business by bringing in two new machines.
He added in the future they would bring in 10 more machines to help in the operation of the business. “Next year we are hoping to get two more machines so that is four machines in total which cost around $1million,” he said.
“We want to have an international standard of supply and we plan to improve the target and quantity and also export to countries like Korea and Germany.
