Trial Begins For Uncle Who Allegedly Committed Unnatural Offence, Raped Nephew

The complainan­t was three years old at the time of the alleged incidents while the accused was aged 17.

The trial of a 28-year-old man, who is charged with one count of unnatural offence, one count of assault with intent to commit rape and two counts of rape, will start today.

He appeared before High Court Judge, Justice Riyaz Hamza yesterday.

It is alleged that the first count of unnatural offence took place between January 1, 2007 and January 31, 2010 in the Central Division.

The complainan­t was three years old at the time of the alleged incident while the accused was 17 years old.

The complainan­t is the nephew of the accused.

It is alleged that the second count of rape took place between February 1, 2010 and January 19, 2014 in the Central Division, where the accused allegedly raped his nephew.

It is alleged that in the third count assault, with intent to commit rape took place between January 20, 2014, and January 31, 2014, in the Central Division.

It is alleged that the accused assaulted his nephew with intent to commit rape.

For the third count the alleged rape took place between January 20, 2014, and January 31, 2014, in the Central Division.

It is alleged that the accused raped his nephew who is under the age of 13. Defence lawyer Lisiate Qetaki asked the court yesterday if he could talk with his client in regards to his plea, which he would also be taking today.

State lawyer Mehzabeen Khan informed the court that the complainan­t was a special school student. The complainan­t is now 14-years-old. Edited by Percy Kean
