The body of Fijian national Thomas Riley will arrive at Nadi International Airport this morning.

Mr Riley, 25, was employed at The Rarotongan Beach Resort and Spa when he was involved in a motorbike accident on January 30, 2019.

He succumbed to injuries he sustained from the accident and passed away at the hospital.

Cook Islands News reported that staff of the resort held a memorial service in his honour and shared fond memories of him. Managing Director Tata Crocombe said the hotel guests and staff loved Mr Riley. “The day that Thomas walked into our restaurant everything was good, the guests loved Thomas, the staff loved Thomas,” Mr Crocombe said.

“Thomas was someone who was simply amazing. For one person to make such a big difference for so many people so quickly. We never had one complaint if Thomas was in the restaurant.”

He said Mr Riley believed in his work and took ownership of it.

A ‘Give a Little’ page was created to assist Mr Riley’s family with his burial.

Mr Riley’s body will leave for his island home in Taveuni tomorrow where he will be laid to rest.
