I CALL ON YOU, YOUNG WOMEN AND MEN, TO STAY INVOLVED AND TO STAND UP FOR THE RIGHTS

of all your sisters and brothers who are vulnerable in our local community.

Leaders in the country must listen to the voices of young people, says the Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports.

While closing of the Western Division Youth Conference at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi yesterday, Maritino Nemani said leaders must “...invest in young people and involve young people meaningfully in all decision-making that affects their lives.”

“I call on you, young women and men, to stay involved and to stand up for the rights of all your sisters and brothers who are vulnerable in our local community.”

He also pledged that the Government would continue its partnership with young people and other partners, including the rest of the country to promote the ideals of peace, solidarity and respect across generations and cultures. “There is a sharing of common interests in our communities, common vision, objectives and values that make you unique in many ways,” he said. “We champion our national development plan that sets the direction for a prosperous Fiji for all Fijians. This Government is committed to eradicate all forms and challenges mentioned above, but we cannot do this alone without all of you playing your part in the community that you serve.” The three-day youth conference has ended.
