The newly appointed head prefects of Nausori Primary School (NPS) are all geared up to lead by example this year.

Yesterday, the duo were among more than 30 students who were part of the prefect induction and pledged to lead students. Viliame Navunidakua was named head boy and Loraine Saula as head girl. Viliame, 13, hails from Nakavu Village in Namosi and has maternal links to Nauria Village in Ra. Viliame believes he has what it takes to lead students this year. “I am so happy today because I know I made my parents proud. I am the first in the family to be a head boy,” the confident youngster said.

“I am ready to face all the challenges ahead of me because I believe the teachers chose me for a reason.

“Since Year One I had a goal to be the head boy of the school and to be able to fulfill that aim makes me so excited.

“My parents played a big role in my appointment because they taught me to lead without expecting anything in return. “Being a leader is not about just wearing the badge, but I believe it comes with great responsibility.

“I believe I have what it takes to fulfill that responsibility.” Head girl, Loraine believes that together with the help from the head boy they will accomplish their respective roles of leading students and helping teachers. “I will work with the head boy and our deputies to ensure that all students are disciplined. I thank the teachers for believing in me,” Loraine said.

“Being named the head girl of the school is a privilege. I plan to perform my new role diligently. ‘Being the head girl is not an easy role because the students will look up to me so I will always do my best.”
