Local boxers get Oz invite
Local boxers have been invited to take part in programmes in Australia next month.
Boxing Commission Fiji (BCF) chairman Bulutani Mataitawakilai confirmed Franco Fraser, Rakuro Daunivavana, Edriel Nichalas Thein, Felix William Chongsue, Gaberieli Ravalawa and Siliveni Nawai will feature in the Steel City Boxing Promotion on March 1 at Australian Technology Park, Eveleigh, NSW and at the JNI Promotions, Hurstville Entertainment Centre, NSW on March 8.
Kumar and Naivalu appointed
BCF has appointed Mulomulo Boxing trainer/coach Chanchal Kumar and former US professional athlete/Buca Bay Boxing Club trainer Jovesa Naivalu to take the boxers to Australia on February 27. They will be accompanied by BCF board member Usman Ali.
In addition, Naivalu, who is a qualified strength & conditioning coach, will conduct training for trainers this year.
Kavika and Nalawa sign deal
Meanwhile, Navosa heavyweight Jonasa Kavika and Jim Nalawa formerly of Lion Boxing Club in Lautoka have signed deals with New Zealand and Australian clubs.
“We are grateful that opportunities are beginning to open up for our local boxers,” he added.
