SCHOOL HEADS SHOULD LEAD BY EXAMPLE AND YOU CAN BE GOOD ROLE MODELS... You need to balance your leadership roles with your studies and you should remain focused... Hem Chand

Atotal of 68 students from Year One to Year 13 were inducted as school leaders during the A.D. Patel Memorial Primary School prefects Induction ceremony in Nadi on Thursday February 14, 2019.

Chief guest, Director Primary Education, Hem Chand advised the students that their new leadership roles, was one way of being an example to students in the lower grades.

Mr Chand also told students that it was time to balance academic work and duty as school prefects. “School heads should lead by example and you can be good role models so that the other students can follow you,” he said.

“You need to balance your leadership roles with your studies and you should remain focused as far as your studies are concerned.

“This is the extra responsibility given to you.”

He also encouraged parents to motivate their children as they took on the role as school leaders.

“We don’t need highly qualified parents, but we need highly motivated parents and your role is to monitor and guide your children,” he said.

Mr Chand added that the Ministry of Education would continue to provide support to all schools in Fiji regardless of the location. “We are trying to reach all the schools in the outer islands to show teachers that we are behind them to fully support them with whatever help that they need from the Ministry of Education,” he added.
