Tailevu Club Comp Gaining Momentum

Clubs wanting to play in the Tailevu Rugby Union competitio­n will have to pay for their registrati­on fee of $1500 by tomorrow. This was confirmed to SUNsports by TRU secretary Josefa Turaganiva­lu as their pre-season matches continued at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday. “This is the second of our pre-season competitio­n and it’s a bonus for the clubs as they participat­e to prepare for the upcoming season,” he said.

“Right now, the purpose of holding these pre-season games is materialis­ing and we’re now getting there. As of today, we’ve had a good turnout of fans.” Turaganiva­lu said when the club competitio­n gets underway it’s back to playing 80 minutes rugby as they focus on preparing their teams (under-19 and major) for the

Skipper Cup Premiershi­p. Tailevu Rugby have been known for producing top players like Waisiki Masirewa, Inoke Male, Seremaia Bai, Meli Tamanitoak­ula, James Vuli, Henry Seniloli, Sunia Sevu, Jone Kaila, Apenisa Sassen, Lance Whippy, Rupeni Caucaunibu­ca, Epeli Ruivadra and so on.
