Constable Ronit Rajnesh Kumar was not surprised when he was named the Commissioner’s Book Prize Awardee during the Basic Recruits PassingOut Parade held at the Fiji Police Academy in Nasova on Friday. The Commissioner’s Book Prize is awarded to the recruit constable who had attained the highest aggregated marks in all theoretical and practical assessments of the course and is also known as the Dux of the course.

The 20-year-old from Masimasi Settlement, Tavua, had a dream to do his best in whatever he did. “I knew I had to be focus from the start and that was exactly what I did. It feels good to be recognised for the hard work I have put in during the four months training,” Constable Kumar said.

“I was doing my Degree in Electrical Engineering. I did it for three semesters and left because I was facing financial problems. “My parents were supportive of my decision when I told them I wanted to become a Police officer. “I have never been closer to God like the four months I was training.

“One thing I know is that when serving people it is like serving God. I will continue to improve myself.

“I dedicate my achievement to my parents for always motivating me and believing in me. I am ready for my new posting and that will be in Nasinu.”

His father, Rohit Rajnesh Rao said: “I was just crying when my son’s name was called.

“I am so proud of what my son has done.”
