Place God First, says Archbishop

- WATI TALEBULA Edited by Percy Kean wati.talebula@fijisun.com.fj

Archbishop Peter Loy Chong reminded members of the community present at mass yesterday morning, to commemorate the Chinese New Year, that they must never forget God.

Worshippers had gathered at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva to listen to Archbishop Loy Chong, who said the Chinese New Year had a lot of significance.

“The people born in the

Year Of The Pig have qualities that are reflected in their attitude like compassion, generosity, people who help others and are honest,”

Archbishop Loy Chong said.

“The problem with this world is that we put human power in the centre.

“We have put the human power in the middle and put

God outside. Those who trust in God are like trees that are planted near the river or stream and the roots grow deep into the soil.”

He added they believed that their faith mattered in public space and people needed to set their priorities right when it came to their relationships God. Some interesting things:

Recent years of the Pig are: 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007 and 2019. 2031 is the next Pig year. Men born in the year of the pig are said to be optimistic and gentle. They are very focus. Once they decide on a goal, they’ll put everything into it.

Women born in the year of the pig are full of excitement. They attend social events whenever possible and treat everyone genuinely. Combined with their easygoing personality, they gain everyone’s trust.
