Is the sum of the initial damage assessment that has been evaluated so far from the Vuci Methodist School fire.

The Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts has thanked Nausori schools for donating school furniture to the Vuci Methodist School.

This follows the fire that destroyed part of the school on Friday night.

The initial damage assessment is $424,000 and this will continue to be evaluated. Minister Rosy Akbar has expressed relief that there were no students or teachers injured in the incident.

However, to ensuring that students continue with their education in a safe environmen­t is of paramount importance.

The ministry, working with the school management and the head of school, has put the following arrangemen­ts in place:

Year 701 and 702 will resume classes from Tuesday 19 February 2019 at the school

Year 301 and 502 will resume classes from Wednesday 20 February 2019 at the school

All other classes will operate as normal because the rest of the school has not been affected and these students should report for school as usual.

All teachers should report to school today, Monday February 18th, 2019, to assist with setting up the new classroom arrangemen­ts.

Specifical­ly, the staff room and the assembly hall will be converted for these classes. Meanwhile, the ministry will make arrange- ments for the following:

New text books to be delivered today, Monday, February 18th, 2019 Counsellin­g as may be required coordinate­d by the National Substance Abuse Advisory Council

New computers when space is available Working with the school and Ministry of Economy to address a replacemen­t facility for classrooms
