Batiweti’s hard work recognised
Akuila Batiweti of Global BedBank limited has always made it his everyday goal to be an inspiration for tourism in Fiji.
And this has paid off after winning the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Award (FETA) Emerging Tourism Leader category at the Sofitel Resort and Spa on Saturday.
About Akuila Batiweti
Mr Batiweti is the general manager for the Pacific Bedbank, which uses technology to help provide “channel management” for the hospitality and travel industry.
Mr Batiweti looks after the overall day to day operations, marketing, development, administration and financial activities of the company.
He is also responsible for developing and implementing the company’s strategic objectives and is in charge of the timely, efficient, scoping, development and implementation of Pacific Bedbank’s projects and products and for the day to day operations and sustainable profitability of the Company.
Mr Batiweti said he was humbled to be given the award. “Being nominated is an honour itself, and to win this award was something I never expected,” Mr Batiweti said.
“I just want to give all the thanks to God and the people who have supported me specially my wife, who has been the backbone through all this.
“A special mention to a couple of people in my life who has brought me through and have given me a chance to get into this side of the business, Bill and Vasemaca Whiting.
“I think this is a recognition for me and also for the rest of the people that I have worked with because at the end of the day our goal is to be an impact for tourism in Fiji,” he added.
Mr Batiweti said Fiji has the capabilities of reaching the one million tourist arrival mark with the help from relevant tourism stakeholders to help boost the tourism industry.
