Nadi International Airport receives Green Airports Recognition
Nadi International Airport has been recognised by Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific as one of the leading Green Airports in the AsiaPacific region.
ACI Asia-Pacific announced the results of the Green Airports Recognition 2019 in which Nadi International Airport received Silver Recognition in the less than 10 million passengers per annum category. The programme recognises airports’ outstanding achievements in their environmental projects.
Fiji Airports Executive Chairman Faiz Khan said “This is yet another amazing achievement for our airport on the international arena. The transformed Nadi International Airport is a world class facility that is standing tall against some of the biggest airports in the world. Our airport is getting international accolades for its modern look and now for becoming a Greener Airport,” Khan said.
“The upgraded terminal features a modern design and a sleek appearance with better provision for natural light and air. The new features that contributed towards making Nadi International Airport greener are our flower garden landscaping facelift throughout
the airport, our state of the art building management system, LED lights, higher ceilings and a pyramid roofing structure in the departures lounge aimed at achieving natural light.”
ACI Asia- Pacific Regional Director Mrs Patti Chau said “We applaud Nadi International Airport for its efforts in achieving recognition as one of the best in the region’s Green Airports Recognition 2019 through the ‘Nadi Airport Terminal Modernisation Project’, which exemplifies our objective of promoting best practices to minimise airports’ impact on the environment.”
Nadi International Airport is one of the 9 airports celebrated in Green Airports Recognition 2019.
Nadi is also the first airport in the South Pacific to attain Level 1 Airports Carbon Accreditation, another ACI programme that recognizes airports’ efforts in CO2 emission reduction, and now actively pursuing Level 2 accreditation.
