Namaka’s new laundrette
Min Jun Jung came from Australia five years ago to join his parents business, Arirang Restaurant, specialising in Korean barbeque at Martintar in Nadi.
His business mind quickly picked up something that was missing from all businesses in Namaka.
Today, White Laundry, with over $80,000 in investment from the family business stands as the only launderette in the Namaka area.
It is situated close to Bargain Box facing TFL.
Mr Jung, 33, said he noticed, whenever he was in Namaka that there was something missing.
South Korea
“Back home in South Korea there are a lot of launderettes so it was easy for me to notice that Namaka did not have one.” Mr Jung, 33, opened the laundry after ordering five washers and five driers from South Korea along with all laundry detergent.
Business operation
Since opening, his business has been slow, probably because people cannot locate it or people have not heard of it.
“I have put it up on Facebook and placed some notices in some shops,” he said.
“It is slowly picking up but still slow.” Mr Jung said he was wanting to open another similar launderette in Lautoka. But this would depend on how his business picked up in Namaka.
His charges for washing and drying include:
■$13 for clothes (maximum of 6kg) ■Bed sheets and other big linen, charges would depend on the size of the items.
If it is not so big the charge is $13 but if it is big then an extra $7 would be charged for the extra time for drying.
Mr Jung said what he had done by venturing into the laundry business showed that anyone could do any business as long as the put their minds to making it work. He is currently employing two women who look after the washing and drying of clothes.
White Laundry opens between 8am to 9am daily and closes at 9pm.
