Toppers, TELS great advantage

March 21 saw one of USP’s largest contingent of graduates Fijians including those from our neighbouring countries with their degrees, double majors or bachelors and post graduates.

What a sight and experience to be part of it in knowing that we will be long gone leaving behind our children and future leaders in our multiracial society in compliance with our FijiFirst Government’s brave vision for an educated country. Thank you to the National Toppers and TELS initiative.

It has certainly opened doors. My son was part of a group of five Fijians who graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law on the day. He was the only iTaukei among four other Fijians of Indo Fijians descent.

Great to note that three of those five graduates all attended Natabua High School together where between them they took home six certificates. This group all started together in 2013 at USP when the Toppers and TELS was first started by the Bainimarama interim government.

At the end of their graduation session those many proud parents and relatives all treated their children to lunch and drinks at the two FNPF properties of GPH or the Holiday Inn Suva with much fanfare.

That is a great version and testimony of brave and visionary leadership in walking the talk from this FijiFirst Government.

Hooray esa suka tu na vuli (school is over), but some of those graduates have already found jobs. We wish all of them the very best in their different endeavors.
