Women in Business excellent platform, says Rowena Fong
WIB is an excellent platform that allows women to be recognised for their work
Merchant Finance Limited chief executive officer Rowena Fong believes Women In Business (WIB) is a good platform to recognise talented women. Ms Fong was awarded the Private Sector-Executive Woman of the Year Award, during the WIB Awards night at Suva’s Grand Pacific Hotel on Friday.
The 38-year-old graduated with a Bachelor of Art Degree at the University of the South Pacific, and later with her postgraduate certificate and Masters.
“I started working with Fiji Holding Limited (FHL) Group 14-years ago, and I have moved around a lot of the subsidiaries in the FHL group,” Ms Fong said.
Work challenge
The mother of four said her work was challenging.
“We have to learn to cope with everything it’s not easy and you will have to do it with a lot of support from your family and the people that are around you,” she said. “We need to challenge other women, if I can achieve this, they can also achieve it.
“Never give up in any opportunity. Try and be a good boss you can be. Take every opportunity so that you can realise your true potential. “WIB is an excellent platform that allows women to be recognised for their work.
“And I believe WIB is getting bigger and better every year.”
Award
She said: “I wasn’t expecting this award.
“But I’m so thankful to be awarded. “I’m happy and honoured to be acknowledged and to receive this award.”
