Praise Jam will replace the signature ‘Priscilla (gay) Night’ as the new programme introduced in the Nadi Bula Festival this year.

The ‘Priscilla Night’ has been a signature programme of the festival for many years.

Nadi Bula Festival Trustee Titilia Vuataki said this new programme, Praise Jam includes youth groups from local churches to expose their talents and creativity based on the theme: ‘Save the Rising Generation’.

“It is time for the community of

Nadi to discover new talents,” she said.

“It is the first time for a festival in Fiji to host a programme like Praise Jam, sponsored by Fiji Gas and we know it will have a huge impact for the people of Nadi. “We also have a fairly new programme the Women’s Craft show that caters for women in Nadi and in Fiji. They will sell their handicraft; showcase their talents in weaving mats, teaching on herbal medicines and masi printing to the public,” said Mrs Vuataki. Nadi Bula Festival president Ravi Nadan said, “This year’s objective is to raise funds under Project 16, to build a community

centre in Nadi which caters for the underprivileged children. “These children need private tutoring as their parents or grandparents cannot afford their private lessons and at the same time they will have a classroom, library and an internet room to assist in their school projects,” he said.

Although the festival will proceed without a major sponsor, Mr Nadan thanked all the sponsors including Hasmat Investments for taking care of the ground rentals and providing selected new rides for this year’s Festival.

“We work to provide a great 59th Bula festival for the people of Nadi and we will continue in unity for the years to come,” he added. Meanwhile, 11 beautiful contestants are vying for the Miss Bula crown which is set to commence on July 27 and will end on August 3. Edited by Susana Tuilau
