Serua, Nadi on track as they reach semis

The Serua Under-9 side are confident of winning the 2019 Central Zone Kaji rugby competition which started yesterday at the Saint Marcellin Primary School grounds in Vatuwaqa, Suva.

Serua started the competition on a winning note, beating Suva Whites 5-0 in the first match and Lami 0-3 in the second, before losing 7-0 against Namosi. Speaking to SUNsports, Serua U9 coach Varasiko Cegutuilagi said despite being a tier-2 team, they still managed to put a good performance.

“I’m pleased with the boys’ performance today and they really put in a lot of effort,” Cegutuilagi said.

“We have now qualified for the semi-final tomorrow and looking forward a tough competition from our opponent.”

WESTERN DIVISION

Nadi Under-14, the defending champion are on track in the 2019 Vodafone WestKids Rugby Festival at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.

The hosts started their round one match with a 29-0 hammering of Navosa and later edged Navosa Two 10-5 in an epic battle in round two.

In the other match, Ba beat Nadarivatu 19-10 and Ra beat Tavua/ Vatukoula 10-0.

The other results were still being tabulated by the time this edition went to press.
