Taraivini Jocelyn hopes to follow in the footsteps of her older siblings and study at the Fiji National University after she completes high school this year.

The 18-year-old from Nasinu Secondary School was among the thousands of students who flocked to the FNU Open Day at the Valelevu grounds yesterday.

Taraivini, who aspires to become an accountant, said the open day was a good opportunity for her to meet and interact with FNU students and staff and get to know more about the pro

gramme she intended to take up next year.

“It was quite helpful, now I have a fair idea of the career pathway I can take and how I can meet the criteria,” she said.

“Two of my older siblings are currently studying at FNU and I intend to live up to my family’s expectations and attend university as well.”

Aspiring lawyer

Aspiring lawyer and Head Boy of Jai Narayan College William Fonorito said he took advantage of the open day to check out the requirements for FNU’s law programme. “Choosing a career can be quite overwhelming, especially for us who have no experience of the actual work field, so I am glad there are platforms like this to assist us,” William said. The 2019 FNU Annual Open day is currently underway at three different locations; Valelevu Grounds in Nasinu, Natabua Campus in Lautoka and Labasa Civic Centre.

The two-day event, which started yesterday, is expected to attract more than 10,000 students from across Fiji.
