Savusavu Boutique Marina to be ‘Ready Before America’s Cup’

Anew Internatio­nal Boutique Marina will be unveiled and operationa­l in Savusavu before the America’s Cup in November 2020, its developers say. Owner of Nawi Island Resort Mike Gann said their goal was to cater for the clientele that would be making their way to New Zealand from all over the world.

Mr Gann said they want to give those heading to Auckland the best experience seeing that the America’s Cup has already made its way down to the Pacific.

With the intention to also capture

double the traffic as they make their way to Auckland and return after the event.

The planned Nawi Island Marina will be the country’s fifth competing for the internatio­nal market. Port Denarau is the biggest and dominates the super yacht business.

Others operating sucessfull­y are Musket Cove in the Mamanucas, Vuda and in Savusavu itself.

Mr Gann said: “Our marina will be offering a total of 144 berths for up to 70m superyacht­s.

“Investors of the Nawi Island resort’s love for Fiji is very strong that has actually made them more determined to finish the project and it has no way dampened their spirits. “Our spirits are high and we are excited about where we are at and we are confident that we will deliver a great product for the people of Fiji and the world.

“The Nawi Island Marina with a five-star boutique experience catering to all demographi­cs in Savusavu.”

The marina will have facilities such as fueling facilities for diesel and petrol, fire service, pedestals, wastewater pump out, telecommun­ication, refueling of gas bottles and ferry/taxi pontoon. With a zero Nawi has taken the initiative to become one of the first internatio­nal green marinas in the world.

The focus will be on renewable energy, sustainabl­e treatment systems, innovative sustainabl­e and organic building materials with a zero single-use plastic marina. “Once the Marina and the Central facility is completed, Nawi will move on to develop a 40 key boutique resort and spa along with 20 luxury condos that will take two years to complete,” Mr Gann said.

He said: “Nawi is especially unique as it is a cyclone protected haven that will include eligibilit­y for Cyclone insurance coverage for all guests.”
