Mr Milne said cabin crew were back flying fairly quickly after going through all the required assistance needed to deal with, after the incident.

While the pilots of Air Niugini’s 2018 Chuuk incident in the Federated States of Micronesia have been stood down, the cabin crew of the flight in concern are already back in the air.

Status of cabin crew

Air Niugini managing director Alan Milne was queried on the status of the cabin crew and what their ordeal has meant for the airline moving forward as one, if not, the only crew that has experienced such a major incident in the airline’s history. “That was very early on in the piece as well, with the debrief with all the pilots and the cabin crew to take away what learnings we could,” Mr Milne said. “That is all being embedded into the final (internal) report because we all work together to present that report.

“The standard issue that you see with all these incidents, around the world, is of passengers taking bags after an incident. “That is something the world stage of aviation needs to address, so there is good learnings there that has already being disseminated around our crew,” Mr Milne said.

He said cabin crew were back flying fairly quickly after going through all the required assistance needed to deal with, after the incident.

“They went back pretty quickly. “So you will bump into them and the next time you fly Air Niugini we will have some of our experienced crew out there.” The cabin crew made up of all 12 crew manning the flight that included the pilot, first officer, and aircraft maintenance engineer.
