Funeral Service for Dixon Seeto Next Week
Aremembrance service for the late Dixon Seeto was held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Indooroopilly, Brisbane, Australia yesterday.
It was attended by close family, Marist Old Boys and friends. The funeral service for Mr Seeto is expected to be held at the Sacred heart Cathedral in Suva next week. Meanwhile, tributes about Mr Seeto are still flowing in locally and regionally.
New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji Jonathan Curr said: “Dixon was a very good friend of both me and my wife.
“We’ve known him for as long as we have been in Fiji,.He was a very prominent Fijian business person and we also know his wife Jenny very well too.
“We are just incredibly saddened by his passing away and his loss, we feel like we lost a wonderful friend here in Fiji who was committed to this country and committed to tourism.
“We convey our heart felt sympathies to Jenny, Gareth, Lorraine and to his entire family.”
South Pacific Tourism Organisation
In a statement yesterday the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) said it and the regional tourism industry have lost a leader, a pillar, a gentleman and a friend in the passing Mr Seeto.
SPTO Board chair, David Vaeafe said “He will be remembered for his meaningful and immense contributions to the region.
“Dixon was a SPTO Board member representing the private sector members, while he recently took up this appointment, he has always contributed to and supported the development of regional tourism in his capacity as a respected leader in the Fiji tourism industry,” said Mr Vaeafe.
He further added that Mr Seeto had made significant contributions to Pacific tourism for more than 20 years and was appointed to the SPTO Board in 2017.
He attended the SPTO Board meeting and the South Pacific Tourism Exchange (SPTE) held in Auckland last May.
“We enjoyed his contributions at the meeting and the SPTE and Dixon certainly made an impact on the members, this is reflected in the tributes and condolences we received from his fellow board members who were fortunate to have made his acquaintance” said Mr Vaeafe.
“Dixon’s passing was untimely and he will be missed, I had the pleasure and privilege of working with him over the years and we will miss his passion for the industry.
“On behalf of the SPTO Board and staff, I offer our condolences and prayers to Jenny and the Seeto family during this difficult time.”
SPTO chief executive officer, Chris Cocker echoed Mr Vaeafe’s sentiments: “We celebrate the life of an honest person, who was so full of life. Dixon had a great sense of humor, was passionate and dedicated to regional tourism. He valued relationships and people. We have lost a true son of the Pacific and he will always be remembered.”
Mr Cocker said SPTO stands in solidarity with the Fiji Hotel & Tourism Association (FHTA) as they mourn the loss of their President, friend and mentor.
