SEVEN CATTLE TO FEED DELEGATES

Seven cattle, several pigs, chickens and fish have been used to feed more than 100 delegates to the Lomaiviti Provincial Council meeting at Sawaieke, Gau this week.

The meeting ends today but delegates have been overwhelmed by the hospitality of the hosts. Maika Bolatiki, the Fiji

Sun journalist at the meeting, said the seventh cattle had been slaughtered.

“It’s hard to count the number of pigs and chickens plus the amount of fish. It was incredible.”

TOWER WANTED

People of Gau want a tower at Sawaieke to enhance communication.

This was brought up at a

talanoa session with the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday.

The people say communication with the outside world is difficult at times because of poor reception.

SHOPLIFTERS BEWARE

A leading supermarket has taken an extra step to get hold of people who walk out of the premises with items without paying for them.

The shoplifters may have gone past the security officers and cashiers without paying for some items but they forgot about the cameras inside the supermarket.

BTL is aware that at least seven people were caught on cameras inside the supermarket picking items and walking out without paying for them.

POWER OUTAGE

There was an unplanned power outage at 4:42pm yesterday in Sabeto, Nadi and its surrounding areas.

This was due to a 10-wheeler truck passing through overhead EFL power lines with its tray tip protruding out and bringing down the power lines and cross arms. The incident caused a power outage affecting supply of electricity in Sabeto and Waimalika areas. EFL teams were repairing the fallen power lines last night, hoping to restore power this morning.
