KOLITAGANE, WEISS AND DASS NEW APPOINTMENTS
The Public Service Commission (PSC) is pleased to announce the following Permanent Secretary appointments which carry the support of the Prime Minister.
Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development – DAVID KOLITAGANE
David Kolitagane, the current Permanent Secretary for
Agriculture who has been acting as the Permanent Secretary for Rural and
Maritime Development since December 2018, is now be- ing appointed to that position on a full-time basis.
Backed by his wide experience in multiple portfolios and his proven performance, the PSC feels that he is ideally suited to take this portfolio to its next level and help fulfill the Government’s agenda in this area. Mr Kolitagane holds a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Economics from the University of the South Pacific.
Ministry of Communications and IT – DEBORAH WEISS
Deborah Weiss is being appointed as Permanent Secretary, Communication and Information Technology - a position that has remained vacant for a long time for want of the most suitable candidate.
Ms Weiss, an Australian citizen, has over 20 years of very relevant experience as a senior operational and management executive in both the private and government sectors of Australia.
The PSC is delighted to have been able to acquire her services to carry forward the Government’s ambitious agenda in the areas of digitalisation and advanced communication. Ms Weiss holds a Bachelor of Professional Studies from the University of NSW, and Master of Commerce, majoring in Information Systems, from the University of NSW.
She will take up her position on September 9.
Ministry of Agriculture - RITESH DASS
Ritesh Dass, was until recently the
CEO of British
American Tobacco in Fiji.
He held the position of CEO for nearly 10 years firstly in the Solomon
Islands and later in
Fiji.
Mr Dass is a very experienced and versatile executive who has significant exposure to the Agriculture sector in Fiji and in the region. He is a proven leader and the PSC is pleased to have been able to secure the services of such a high calibre executive from the private sector.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of the South Pacific and a PostGraduate Diploma in Management from Central Queensland University.
Mr Dass will take up his role on October 1.
