COUNCIL WANTS EARLY BOOKINGS
Fiji Sports Council chief executive officer Litiana Loabuka has urged those planning on using their venues to book early to avoid disappointment.
Loabuka said that all bookings at Fiji Sports Council venues are on a first come first served basis.
“We have had group bookings two years in advance at one of our venues,” she said. “Bookings of three months before an event are not uncommon. There are no set times in which to book, the rule of thumb is the earlier the better.
“Fortunately, we have been able to accommodate the sporting bodies, church and community groups, but most have come to understand that last minute bookings are rarely available.”
Selwyn Williams, Athletics Fiji administrative manager, (athletics are a major user of the ANZ Stadium) said that the Athletics Fiji calendar of events is prepared one year prior. “With our international bookings, we know what the events are two years in advance.
Avoiding the disappointment of not getting the facility you need all boils down to lodging your booking well in advance with the Fiji Sports Council and paying the deposit to ensure your booking is held,” he said. Loabuka said: “Our team is gratified with the support of all of our customers and gives us confidence that, as we grow into the future, there will be a continued demand for our facilities, so please book early.”
The Fiji Sports Council venues are: ANZ Stadium, Vodafone Arena, FMF Gymnasium, Damodar City Aquatic Centre, National Fitness Centre, Buckhurst Ground, Bidesi Ground,
Ground Three, FSC Sports Centre, MultiPurpose Courts, FSC Carpark, National Netball Centre, National Beach Courts, Victoria Tennis Courts, Suva Lawn Tennis Club, Thomson Park, Lawaqa Park, National Hockey Centre, National Sailing Centre, Regional Tennis Courts, Ra Sports Grounds, Veivadravadra Ground.
