Ex-prop warns halves
Wallabies will target our halfback and first five, says Paula Biu
The Fiji Airways Flying Fijians halfback and first five eight play a crucial role if they are to beat Australia in their Rugby World Cup opener on Saturday.
The call was made by former Flying Fijians prop Paula Biu who indicated that this is an area the Wallabies are going to exploit.
Speaking to SUNSsports, he highlighted that whatever player head coach John McKee is going to name for the positions, they have a big responsibility at hand.
“They must punch above their weight in Sapporo,” Biu said.
“I believe if the two players work together and communicate a lot, we will beat Australia.
“We’ve the players that have the skills and potential to create space for some of the amazing talents in our backline.”
He said the Flying Fijians must work together in getting quick balls from the ruck and executing the right game plan
where they can create scoring opportunities for the world class backline that the world is eager to watch at the World Cup.”
Biu reminded the players of the need to be humble and focus on the job they’re assigned to do at the World Cup. “The boys should have the right mindset going into the first game against the Wallabies and the most important thing is for them to focus for the full 80 minutes because it’s the World Cup and anything can happen.”
“They need to be humble on and off the field and be aggressive during the game.
“They must leave aside their reputation in rugby and stick to the plan they have as a team.
“It’s not an easy task for them but if they work as a team, anything is possible. It depends on the boys now on what they are going to do on the field comes the day.”
CALL FOR SUPPORT
Biu has urged all Fijians to support Flying Fijians at the World Cup.
“I urge everyone to show their support to the boys in prayers. I wish them all the best and may God bless them.” The match kicks-off at 4.45pm
