Communication is key
Communication is one of those things that is undervalued.
Amy Scott, Communication Expert, Speaker, Mentor and Trainer, made this comment while presenting on Communication and Influence during the CPA Australia-Fiji Branch Congress on Friday.
The two days congress ended on a high note on Friday at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa, Yanuca Island.
But Ms Scott also believes otherwise on communication for Fijians.
“Fiji utilises communications very well which makes it your point of difference,” she said. “Communication is a vital core skill and my hope for the delegates today and I have challenged their thinking to change how they would naturally communicate. “I am hoping that they will modify their different communication styles to get the best out of the people around them but have a greater understanding.” Ms Scott uses DOTS which is a simple, fun yet powerful communication tool that helps transform all key relationships in people’s lives.
She spoke to delegates on how to recognise and connect with the four main communication styles, known as red, yellow, purple and blue DOTS.
She has worked with different sectors in New Zealand and even families to enhance their communication skills so that they can be successful in life and have a better understanding of each other. “The dots a great practical easy to use communication tool that really helps people develop selfawareness or emotional intelligence if you need to use the label. “Its grassroots it means that anyone from the age of nine through the CEO can engage and apply it. “One of the things I love is even if people look at this one aspect of themselves of how they communicate or how they naturally process information just that alone can be a massive game changer for people at work and also at home.”
