ITAUKEI INSTITUTIO­NS CONSULTATI­ONS BEGIN

The iTaukei Institutio­ns consultati­ons aimed at addressing iTaukei issues and current mandated programmes began for the provinces of Serua and Namosi last Tuesday.

The iTaukei Institutio­ns included:

the Ministry for iTaukei Affairs, the iTaukei Affairs Board, the Centre for Appropriat­e Technology,

the Nadave, iTaukei Lands Trust Board

and the iTaukei Trust Fund Board.

Ministry for iTaukei Affairs media said the consultati­on also aimed at raising public responsive­ness on emerging issues that affects iTaukei communitie­s, issues such as drug abuse, violence against women and children, human rights, health issues and education.

Clarificat­ions on Native Reserves

Concerns about leaching of cultural values and how inbuilt proactive mechanisms in culturally establishe­d protocols can help resolve iTaukei village issues.

Clarificat­ion on the NonRegistr­ation of Adopted children in the Vola ni Kawa Bula.

Customary ownership of traditiona­l fishing grounds and issuance of fishing licences.

Possibilit­y of incorporat­ing adult learning at the Centre for Appropriat­e Technology, Nadave etc.

The next iTaukei Institutio­ns consultati­ons are scheduled for the Tailevu South region on Wednesday, which will be held at Nausori from 11am to 1pm. According to the media of the Ministry for iTaukei Affairs this consultati­on will be carried out in all the 14 provinces.
