KULUKULU STUDENTS SCOOP PRESIDENT’S CONSTITUTION PRIZE
Kulukulu Public School was one of the winners in the President’s Constitution Day challenge.
And yesterday Kulukulu Public School students travelled all the way from Sigatoka to receive their prize from the Permanenet Secretary for Communication Deborah Weiss and PS Education Alison Burchell.
Fijians were asked to submit a one-to-threeminute video explaining their favourite part of the Constitution.
Three schools won a laptop each while three individual winners were each given a Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone, during an official ceremony at the Suvavou House yesterday.
President Jioji Konrote had announced the competition in commemoration of Constitution Day. Fourteen Year Five students from Kulukulu Public School had prepared a video where they talked about the Right to Education which is protected under the 2013 Constitution. Class teacher Sandhaya Prasad said the children had shown great interest in the competition which had motivated her to make the video.
“We wrote it down, but they practised it well and it was their dedication,” Ms Prasad said.
“It was a good opportunity for these kids to express themselves. And the competition was a great way to get children involved and really create awareness of our Constitution.
“We teach kids about it in school, but the competition really drew their interest and they were excited to learn more about it.” Tavua College and Naleba College from Labasa were the other two winners in this category.
