On Monday the venue for the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards (ANZ FETA) 2019 Season will be announced.

Sources close to the ANZ FETA Trustees and organising committee say the awards gala dinner might be held at the five-star Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island, Nadi.

More than 20 awards applications have already been received for the awards so far.

There are 13 awards to be given away on the night of the gala dinner.

The individual awards are selected by judges based on applications received while the other special recognition awards are given by the Trustees and announced on the night of the Event.

The awards registration opened on July 15.

The entries close on Monday.

In November, the committee will have a shortlist compiled and will begin site visits. Come January next year finalists for the awards will be announced.

In a previous interview, FETA chair, Bill Whiting said the event has become one of the biggest awards night in the country through the partnership with ANZ.

He said they are delighted to have ANZ renew its sponsorship with FETA until 2021.

“ANZ has been our naming rights sponsor since 2015 and through this partnership we have been able to make the ANZ FETA event one of the biggest awards night in the country,” Mr Whiting said.

“ANZ FETA has been recognising excellence in the tourism industry since 1998.

“With increasing numbers of visitors to our shores, we must ensure that our excellence in the tourism industry remains as one of the best in the world.”
